Self Portraits
Over the course of the term we have been working on creating self portraits in our art sessions. We started by measuring our faces with pieces of wool so we could accurately position our eyes, nose and mouth on a drawing of our face. Then we used mirrors to look at our eyes, nose and mouth and practiced drawing the correct shapes. We looked at how wide our shoulders were in comparison to our heads to make sure our portraits were in proportion. Next we used chalk to draw over our pencil outlines, and used pastels to colour in our drawings. Finally, we chose a dye that was either a hot or cold colour to contrast with the pastel colours we had used. Here are some of our finished self portraits. They will certainly brighten up Room 19!
